AIDS Walk Detroit benefits the Steppin' Out organization. The mission of Steppin' Out is to provided financial support for direct care services and agencies and prevention/education programs, promote public awareness through events and activities that endeavor to guarantee people living with HIV/AIDS are treated with dignity and respect.

Since it’s inception in 1991, Steppin’ Out has become the largest grass roots HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in Michigan and has granted over $3 million to more than 25 different agencies and helped thousands of individuals in pursuit of its mission.

All AIDS Walk Detroit proceeds are directed to Steppin' Out and granted back to agencies that provide prevention/education and direct care services to people living in the Detroit Metropolitan area.

Steppin' Out also provides for a more immediate funding impact to our local AIDS service providers through its Agency Walk Team program. Agencies that form Walk Teams with 10 or more walkers receive 97% of all pledges collected by the Agency and its designated participants to use in an unrestricted manner.
